Only premium education plans have access the lesson start date and quiz features. Please contact us if you're an existing customer on a smaller plan and would like the feature.
An EditMentor quiz is a type of lesson with certain assessment features turned on to challenge students. Any lesson can be turned into a quiz. Teachers can create custom quizzes by creating custom lessons.
Lessons start dates can be assigned without becoming quizzes.
How a Quiz is Different From a Lesson
In quiz mode, students cannot:
View hints
View all possible answers
Replay a challenge
Replay the quiz
Quizzes must be completed by a due date or the student gets a zero in the dashboard.
Steps to Creating a Quiz
Step 1: Duplicating The Lesson
We strongly recommend that teachers duplicate a lesson before turning it into a quiz. If a student has previously completed a lesson, and that lesson is turned into a quiz, their score will stay. However, if you duplicate the lesson first, EditMentor considers it a new lesson and will not retain their scores.
To duplicate a lesson, select the lesson and press duplicate from the lesson panel.
Step 2: Editing The Lesson
From the curriculum page, select the course that contains the lessons you'd like to modify.
Click on the lesson you'd like to modify to open the lesson panel on the right side of the screen.
Select the pencil icon in the upper right corner to modify lessons.
Step 3: Activating Quiz Mode
Press the Quiz Mode button just below the text box in the lesson builder window.
Set a start date when you want the quiz to appear for students.
Set a due date for the quiz.
Save your changes.
Quizzes that are not completed by the due date will receive a 0 in the dashboard. If you extend a due date, the quiz can be attempted by anyone who has not already attempted it. Quiz dates cannot be set for each individual students. Only for the lesson as a whole.
Creating a Custom Quiz
You can build your own lessons and quizzes by using EditMentor's Lesson Builder Tool. Within the lesson builder, you can upload your own footage, or copy challenges from one lesson into another.

How Students View a Quiz
Students will see a badge atop the lesson indicating that it is a quiz. It will be greyed out if they are trying to access it past the due date.
Using Quiz Mode With an LMS
If you are using EditMentor with a learning management system (LMS), you may still use Quiz Mode. Just be sure to set the end date appropriately.
