Many schools employ internet firewalls (a network security system that monitors and controls internet traffic) to prevent students from visiting unwelcome websites on campus.

Your school's IT department likely has a policy that restricts access to any website which is not whitelisted. A whitelisted website is one deemed safe by the IT staff after vetting. Many software vendors, like EditMentor will not be whitelisted at the time of your subscription, causing EditMentor to not properly run on your school's internet.

To get EditMentor whitelisted at your school, you will need to connect your school's IT department with EditMentor's support staff by emailing us at [email protected]. EditMentor staff can complete paperwork and provide the school's IT staff with a list of websites needed in order for EditMentor to run smoothly. For example, IT staff may need to whitelist Amazon Web Services, in order for EditMentor to run smoothly. We have a policy not to publicly publish the list of required whitelist websites as that could jeopardize the security of our website.

Before requesting EditMentor to be whitelisted at your school, please follow the steps below.

Test if EditMentor is being blocked by your school's IT department

  1. Try EditMentor.com on a home wifi connection to see if it's running smoothly.

  2. Try EditMetnor.com on campus and see if there is a difference in how videos playback.

  3. Ask your tech department to whitelist EditMentor.com and see if it runs smoothly.
